As a parent, I know that our nation’s teachers are the key to preparing our children for the world that awaits them.  Education is an intricate practice, much like medicine.   Every student is different, and the teacher is the expert on what each student needs to reach their potential.

Yet we continue to make cuts to education budgets, overcrowd classrooms, and pressure our educators to “socially promote” students rather than build true success through honest evaluation.  Measuring achievement is important, but complicated.  As it is now, the focus on standardized tests benefits only the test-makers, not the classrooms.

We must come to truly understand how our teachers work, we must empower them to do their job, then we must properly evaluate the achievements that they are making.
